We will be participating in the annual 4th of July celebration in Lake City again this year! We're excited to be making our second pilgrimage to Lake City for this incredible event.

They keep it simple in Lake City - the parade kicks off at 9 a.m., followed by a celebration at in the town park that lasts from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and everything is capped off in an awesome way with an evening fireworks show that is second to none!

The theme for this year's celebration is "Lake City Wild: Wild Flowers, Wildlife, Wild Times!"

Lake City is a special place, tucked away in Hinsdale County south of Gunnison. Jagged peaks pierce deep blue skies, while wildlife teems in rocky canyons and on high valley floors. Crystalline rivers flow from altitude, while unique geology promises adventure and spurs endless exploration.

They don't call it a Peak Experience for nothing.

We've actually created a special Colorado Caliber design to celebrate our love for Lake City and Hinsdale County. We'll have a limited supply of t-shirts featuring the design at the 4th of July celebration.

Did you know that Lake City is the only town in Hinsdale County? The county is made up of 96% public lands. There are four wilderness areas and 2 wilderness study areas in Hinsdale County. Lake City is located at the crossroads of two major scenic byways - Silver Thread Scenic Byway and Alpine Loop Backcountry Byway.

Neary Lake San Cristobal (the city's namesake) is the second largest natural lake in the state. ith all the great things Lake City and Hinsdale County has to offer, it's almost just as much fun to stop and think about everything they DON'T have:

1) Commercial chain stores

2) Stop lights

3) Traffic (at least the kind we're used to in Denver ... unless you count herds of wildlife as "traffic")

4) Light pollution

5) Noise

6) Cell service ... well, you can get reception in town but it's not great reception!

7) Elevators (that's because there are no buildings higher than 2 stories in Hinsdale County)

Lake City is a wonderful getaway whether you're into four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, hiking, or just sight-seeing. It draws history enthusiasts from all over the world, wildlflower lovers, and horseback riders. We think Lake City and Hinsdale County are a microcosm of all the best things Colorado has to offer. That's why we are thrilled to be participating in this one-of-a-kind Independence Day celebration again!

In addition to the parade and fireworks show, the city has a plethora of activities planned. They include a book sale at the Moseley Arts Center, sponsored by the library; a street dance; and a vendor area featuring great arts and crafts, delicious food, and drinks! Way too much more to go into here ...

See you in Lake City on the 4th!
